YEHEY!!! Today is OUR 4TH ANNIVERSARY OF OUR BELOVED HAPPY WIN LOTTO OUTLET

Today is July 28, 2012 Our 4th Anniversary of our Happy Win Lotto Outlet
My Team and myself have a lot to be thankful for to Our Lord one of which is that despite many heartaches and tension-filled moments (a Lotto outlet just opened so near to us that only a wall and a street just separates us), we have managed to survive 4 GRUELING YEARS OF LOTTO OPERATION.

July 28 Lotto Jackpot & EZ2, Swertres results
Unlike maybe some other lotto outlets, our Happy Win Lotto Outlet is OUR ONLY SOURCE OF INCOME and the 3 of us (my supervisor, my lotto operator and myself as lotto agent) are the SOLE BREADWINNERS OF OUR OWN FAMILIES.

And so, My Blog for today is all about thanking the people who have helped us the last 4 years:

1.  The Lord for giving this gift, our Happy Win Lotto, to us and for  ALWAYS BEING THERE WHEN WE NEEDED HIM MOST;

2.  To the PCSO Central Operations, Data Control, Marketing, Internal Audit & Warehouse Departments for providing the needed support services without them we would not have started and continued operations at all;

Luck plays a role in everybody's lives most of all amongst my lotto customers
3.  To Winsome Development Corp. for providing the space and opportunity to make a living in their Mall Center;

4.  To KasCash Marketing Corp., Pacific Online Systems Corp., Philippine Gaming Management Corp. and Total Gaming Technologies Corp. for providing the products to sell and the necessary Technological Support to run our Lotto outlet;

Always good to see people betting at my lotto outlet
5.  To the Banks (you know who you are) whom without your deposit facilities and steady daily supply of coins and small  bills without which our operations would be hampered;.

6.  To my Mom and sisters who have provided the needed encouragement and moral support to continue during those days and sometimes months of uncertainties and hardships and somehow, we survived because of them;

People checking pcso lotto results before placing their bets
7.  To my 2 dear Staff who have stuck it out with me from Day 1 July 28, 2008 till now to make Happy Win Lotto Station a continuing REALITY.   I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!

6.  Lastly and most important, OUR BELOVED LOTTO CUSTOMERS who have stood by us over the years despite the rise of very stiff competition.  Definitely, WITHOUT THEM, WE OF HAPPY WIN LOTTO STATION WOULD CEASE TO EXIST.

So that I also am in the pic, I asked my regular lotto suki to take the picture

The All-important Lotto Jackpot Amounts Display, without it, my lotto customers will complain
People from all walks of life placing a Lotto bet at my Lotto outlet

Man on right keeps his bets secret by writing instead atop the Mall Waste Container, rather than be beside the other bettors

The Importance of Giving Back to Your Suki Lotto Outlet Customers

The other day I invited a select group of my Instant Game Card " Suki" lotto customers to a Lunch Date this coming July 29, 2012.  You see, July 28 is our 4th Anniversary, the BIRTHDAY OF MY LOTTO OUTLET.

I want to treat this Select Super Special Group to Lunch to show them my appreciation for the business that they have been giving me over the years.

The funny thing is that this Group of about 7 ladies did not know each other before but because of my selling  ScratchIt and KasCash cards to them, they have now become friends. They have exchanged mobile cellphone numbers and they always seem to be at my lotto outlet at about the same time almost every day.

When I see one member, I would ask her where are her " CLASSMATES"?

They come from all walks of life from a nurse, a car accessories salesperson to a housewife.

I owe my BUSINESS SURVIVAL TO THEM. I love them for that.

Do All PCSO Lotto Agents Know How To Work as Lotto Operators?

The reason for the Post Title is that every Saturday when my lotto operator is on Day-off, I have to stand in for her and I can tell you, the job can be difficult too, to wit:

1.  It's tiring to be sitting maybe 10 hours or more in the same seat facing a computer monitor.
        a.  Eye strain
        b.  Back and shoulder ache
        c.  Legs cramp up from sitting in a confined place.
Can you as the Lotto Agent do what your Lotto Operator is doing 10-12hours a day???

2.  Dealing with SUPER SUPER SUPER DIFFICULT CUSTOMERS who simply refuse to follow the "NO DICTATION" sign.

3.  Corollary to Number 2, are customers who would write a long list of combo lotto bets instead of using the cards.  Manual encoding is possible but is more prone to error (making the lotto bettor angry on top of being difficult) and tiring for the lotto operator.

4.  Corollary to the Corollary, hay, are CUSTOMERS WHO INSIST ON PAYING FOR A P10 lotto EZ2 bet with a P1000 PESO BILL!!!!!!  You see, some even admit that they just want us to break their P1000 into small bills.  This happens usually during paydays.

5.  Tension because WATCH OUT FOR THE FAKE MONEY PASSER. HE IS OUT TO GET YOU!!!!

6.  Sometimes the lines may be long as when the Lotto Jackpot is big that your lotto operator might not yet have taken her lunch>

This post is a tribute to our Lotto Operator who, without them, our Lotto business will be gone.  WE SHOULD TAKE GOOD CARE OF THEM SO THAT THEY WILL TAKE GOOD CARE OF US.

News of Dolphy Passing Away Spurred A Dolphy Fever At The Lotto Outlets

DOLPHY WILL BE MISSED BY MANY(Photo courtesy of mintscreen.com)
Call this PROOF THAT DOLPHY, THE COUNTRY'S COMEDIAN EXTRAORDINAIRE, HAS TOUCHED THE HEARTS OF SO MANY FILIPINOS INCLUDING MY REGULAR LOTTO BETTORS.

Since news of his death last July 10, 2012, many lotto bettors were betting the EZ2 2-Digit and Swertres 3-Digit games (both of which have 3 draws a day: 11am, 4pm and 9pm)that are a combination of important numbers in Dolphy's life.

The lotto bettings reached CRITICAL MASS (or near fanaticism) when on 3 draw days, DOLPHY NUMBERS CAME OUT IN THE DRAW RESULTS:

8-3-4 Swertres Dolphy died at exactly 8:34pm July 10, 2012

3-8 EZ2 Dolphy was aged 83 years old when he passed away

25-7 EZ2 Dolphy's Birthday is July 25.

An example of the typical lotto bet combinations last July 15, 2012, Sunday which happened to be also his Internment:

7-15 Internment

7-1-5 Internment

10-15 Dates of Death and Burial

7-2-5

7-25 (Winning combo if you betted EZ2 Ramble 25-7)

10-25 Date of death and birth

8-3-4 and all its permutations (4-3-8, 3-4-8 etc; winning combo if you better
Swertres Straight & Ramble; Pays P4,500 per P10 of 3Digit Straight or
P750 per P10 if 3Digit Ramble)

People were getting frustrated when as early as 11am I was already telling my lotto bettors that any lotto bet combination that has something to do with Dolphy (the Dolphy bets) is probably SOLD OUT ALREADY.

And for those who saw that his time of death (8-3-4), age (3-8) or his birthday (25-7) came out as winning combinations which meant many Filipino lotto bettors won, my lotto bettors said THIS IS DOLPHY'S WAY OF GIVING BACK TO THEM.

Good Bye, Dear Dolphy.  You brought Laughter Into Our Life Amidst Our Moments of Sadness(Photo courtesy of juanmanilaexpress.com)
SO THERE, EVEN IN DEATH, FILIPINO LOTTO BETTORS BELIEVE DOLPHY NEVER FORGOT THE COMMON MAN. AND I THINK, THAT IS HOW DOLPHY WOULD HAVE WANTED TO BE REMEMBERED.....

How To Get A Keno Outlet?

I was told that to get a PCSO Keno Outlet assuming you are an existing Lotto agent, one has to submit the following:

Keno Application form (from the Central Operations Dept of the PCSO)

Barangay clearance (I submitted the Barangay clearance of my Lotto Outlet for the Current Year)

courtesy of KENO LOTTERY PHILIPPINES
NBI clearance (not expired: PCSO will get the Original Upper portion of the NBI Clearance and have
PATIENCE IN TRYING TO SECURE ONE AT THE NBI OFFICES IN ROBINSON'S GALERIA)

3 pcs 2x2 ID Pictures

Picture of the site ( or picture of your lotto outlet if that is where you will install it)

Proof of Income of your Lotto Outlet (Get it from PCSO Accounting Dept)

Birth certificate

If you are renting your site, proof of rent or lease

Xerox copy of 2 valid Government ID (I gave them my driver's license and SSS Member Card)

And whatever other requirement the PCSO may require of you.

Only after all of the requirements have been met will the PCSO tell you to pay for the Application Fee of P2,500.00.

Then, you wait for PCSO to approve your application.

I hope my list will help you lotto agents in your application.

Godspeed to Christian Lugtu of Pacific Online Systems On His New Assignment

Who is Mr. Christian Lugtu, you may ask?

Christian Lugtu is the Sales Supervisor of Pacific Online Systems Corp and for the past years, he has been looking after my lotto outlet's progress in marketing the Scratch It brand of Instant Game Cards of the PCSO.

Because we both came from FMCG or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods companies (He from Monde-Nissin, makers of Lucky Me Noodles and me, from Universal Robina Corp, makers of Piattos, C2 & Chippy snacks), I immediately became familiar with Christian's way of managing an account, to wit:

1.  He always works on Sales Targets

2.  He keeps me updated with my Sales progress and we usually do a Monthly Review (peso and quantity per variant) (He lugs around his heavy laptop to my lotto outlet)

3.  He immediately calls my attention if my sales has dropped and does an analysis of what happened, whether I like what I hear or not)

That's Mr. Christian Lugtu on the far left with backpack.  Next to him is Ms. Grace Gatdula, Scratchit Marketing Manager & on the Far Right is Mr. Jay Jamias, National Sales Manager of Pacific Online Systems.
4.  He listens to my suggestions like when I told him why not come up with an Incentive plan for the lotto operators separate from incentives to the lotto agent.  (For 2012, Pacific Online did exactly that!  Maybe not because of my suggestion but it is comforting to know Pacific Online listens.)

5.  Because he knows how important the Top 3 Bestsellers are to my Sales bottomline (Go Banana, Red Hot 7 & Lucky Dragon), Christian keeps me informed of the stock availability of these variants.

6.  He does not mind my calling him up at odd hours of the night for this complain or that complain and its negative impact on my Sales.

7.  He is not afraid to comment vocally to me if I put up too many posters of PGMC, his competitor and not enough of his.

8.  He immediately informs me of any Sales Promotions that his company cooks up and that is usually a HAPPY MOMENT for me as it represents a chance to earn a little more.

9.  And lastly, he still found the time to say his Goodbyes to us and personally introduce his replacement, Mr. Alfred Asperilla, whom we look forward to working with and with the same vigor as Mr. Lugtu.

In short, he is not only a Sales person but also a Brand Manager looking after his brand and managing his Key Accounts.  Pacific Online is fortunate to have a guy like him.

I wish him success in his new assignment.

I hope he will still find the time to drop-by and have coffee with me.  My treat!!!

There Are Now 2 Official PCSO Lotto Ticket Formats in Luzon. Huh?

The reason is simple:  There are now 2 types of Lotto terminals now operating in Luzon.  One, the original and more common one is the lotto ticket printed on the Flex Terminal owned by the Philippine Gaming and Management Corp or PGMC.  Now, there is another one which is from the Microlot Terminal owned by the Pacific Online Systems Corp which I believe is the same machine being used by the lotto outlets in the Visayas and Mindanao Areas.

Lotto ticket printed using the Microlot Terminal of the Pacific Online Systems Corp.

Lotto ticket printed using the Flex Terminal of the PGMC

Because they are printed on different machines, lotto ticket of one format may not be validated in the other terminal with a different format ie a Microlot Lotto ticket cannot be checked using the Flex terminal.

Fake Money Philippine Peso Are Getting Very Good. Is It Hopeless To Stop Them?

Why is Ninoy sad?  IS IT BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY FAKE Php Peso 500 bills ?(courtesy of feudart, com)

Today, I came across an article in the Manila Bulleting under the byline of Ms Charissa M. Luci.  A Philippine Congress House Leader, Iloilo Representative Jerry Trenas, House Committee chairman on Good Government and Public Accountability "is proposing the maximum penalty for people caught selling, distributing and manufacturing spurious currencies."

The article also states that said Iloilo Rep Trenas "asked colleagues in Congress to ensure that the selling, distirbution and manufacturing of fake currencies be stopped."

The article further states that the Iloilo Rep Trenas cited "criminal elements have been victimizing banks and other lending institutions. . . "

The article also wrote about the Iloilo Rep Trenas urged local government officials, business establishments and organizations . . .  to work hand in hand to put a halt to the spread of fake bills."

THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE LACK OF LAWS BUT RATHER, OF IMPLEMENTATION.

While the article talks about big companies like banks and lending institutions getting victimized, WHAT ABOUT MICRO BUSINESSES SUCH AS A LOTTO AGENT WHO ALSO GET VICTIMIZED?

THE PROLIFERATION OF FAKE MONEY WILL NOT GET SOLVED BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE LAW IS IMPLEMENTED.

Here is an example:

A lotto operator notices a fake P500 bill being passed on by a Fake Money passer.  Even if the lotto operator identifies the Fake Money passer, nothing will happen to the Fake Money passer.  To get the Fake Money Passer arrested, the police will require a complainant to file a criminal case in the Courts and there lies the problem:

1.  For P500, the complainant will have to hire a lawyer, pay the lawyer's and court fees.  It will cost him more than the P500.

2.  The lotto agent and operator will lose time attending to the court case as court cases take ages to settle.

3.  The complainant will FEAR FOR HIS LIFE as the Fake MOney Passer may be supported by hordes of criminal gangs.

The point is, WHY IS A COMPLAINANT NEEDED WHEN THE FAKE MONEY PASSER WAS CAUGHT IN THE ACT BY MALL SECURITY OR THE POLICE?

And since the Fake Money Passer knows  this, THE COUNTERFEIT MONEY PASSER HAS NOTHING TO FEAR.

By the way, the QUALITY OF COUNTERFEIT OR FAKE MONEY IS PRETTY GOOD, in my humble layman opinion:

1. In the old design, putting the fake or counterfeit money under the UV Light/Money detector will cause the amount in figures to glow, JUST LIKE THE REAL ONE.

2.  A few months after the Philippine Peso New Design came out, the Fake Money version was reportedly coming out too, according to my customers.

AND DO YOU KNOW THE ONE THING THAT THE FAKE OR COUNTERFEIT MONEY PASSERS HAVE TO BE THANKFUL FOR?

The Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Philippine Central Bank) poster showing the security feature of the new Peso bills can only be seen in banks tucked away in a corner of the bank that nobody ever gets to notice. HENCE, THE FAKE MONEY PASSERS ARE SAFE IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE GENERAL PUBLIC (Who also happens to be the GENERAL VICTIMS) will never know how to tell the fake from the real Philippine peso bill.

Hay!!!!!! Poor micro businessman. Poor Pilipino.

Lotto Agent Gets Super Headache Due to Failure to Display New PCSO Logo Signage

This is my Lotto kiosk displaying the new PCSO Logo signage
A fellow Lotto Agent went to my Lotto to place a bet.  He has been betting in my Lotto for the past 2 years whenever he happens to be in Manila.

He was telling me his Lotto was blocked (Terminal made OFF-LINE) due to his failure to display the proper signage showing the New PCSO Logo (see previous post below) which probably caused the non-renewal of his Contract of Agency with the PCSO.

Beware.
