Tales of My Lotto Customer: Meet Mr. R

Yesterday, I was seated in my usual chair at the coffee shop  listening to a lady, an ex-banker for 27 years, convincing me to join her company as a Sales Trainee selling Cookware that cost a huge P135,000 for a set of 7-pieces.  Ang Mahal (Expensive even if it has 9-ply and made of surgical steel!!!)

Along comes Mr. R, my lotto customer, who sat at the table across mine.

After the lady had left, I approached Mr. R and we talked about the many funny or odd ways people place their lotto bets.

Mr.  R is unlike all my other customers as he is on a wheelchair which he operates himself (nobody to do the pushing for him).  Mr. R told me he just came from my lotto outlet and that he was pleasantly surprised.

Why surprise? It seems he had in his clutch bag several lotto tickets that he has not yet checked the results of.  He wheeled himself to my lotto operator & gave his lotto tickets to my operator to be validated.  And lo and behold, my operator told him HE HAD WON 4 NUMBERS ON THE 6/55 GAME.  THIS MEANS HE WON p2,000.00!  HE WAS SO HAPPY.

My Lotto kiosk.
He then told me he just bets whatever he can spare for the day.  If he does not win, it goes to Charity anyway.

By the way, I am conducting a One-on-One Consultation on How to Setup and Operate Your Own Lotto Outlet. Topics include How to Evaluate a Site for Lotto, The Proper Way to Apply with the PCSO, Actual Operations, How to Prevent Fraud, How to Compete Against Other Lotto Outlets and many more. Please allot at least 2 hours for each session. My fee is only P2,000 per person (Group discount available). Just text me your full name and "Lotto Setup" to 0922-8831225 for details.

Acquiring a Lotto outlet is a lot cheaper than purchasing a Franchise from Zagu (P320,000) or Siomai House (P250,000) and it is simple to operate.

Latest news: PCSO has lowered the Cash Bond requirement and an individual is now allowed to own 3 lotto outlets.

This Is What Happens When You Picked The Wrong Location For Your Lotto Outlet

WHERE SHOULD I SETUP MY LOTTO?  (map courtesy of freewebs.com)
Yesterday, an old friend of mine who also happens to be a lotto operator for a fellow-lotto agent visited my lotto outlet accompanied by her husband, who also happens to be a lotto operator too & their granddaughter.

While her husband was lining up to bet at my lotto outlet, i got to talk to the Mrs and she narrated that both her husband and herself have been out of a job for the last 3 months.

They used to be working as a husband-wife team for the same lotto outlet in Bulacan. Because sales was very low & after having been hit by a disastrous flood during typhoon Ondoy, the lotto agent decided to transfer the lotto outlet to another site north of Manila.

YOU NEED TO STUDY YOUR LOCATION FIRST !!!!(Image courtesy of pcworld.com)
Alas, sales was still low (maybe P3,000 to P5,000 a day or a daily commission of only P150/day before taxes).  Apparently, there are many lotto outlets in the area and the volume of business could not sustain such a number of nearby lotto outlets.

And so, the owner is planning to transfer again the lotto outlet but in the meantime, I think, the lotto operators had to be let go.

And yet, another friend of mine, also a lotto agent, is still busy setting-up one lotto outlet after another and all of them, according to my lotto operator-friend, are doing very well.

You still need to do you your assignment (study the location very well) and just locating near any lotto outlet that seems to be doing well.  (THAT'S THE SARI-SARI STORE MENTALITY)

Just Finished My Keno Training

Draw starts at 7am & ends at Midnight!!!  (image courtesy of TGTI)
Yesterday, October 19, 2012, my supervisor and myself were at the PCSO Training Room at the 3rd floor of the PICC Convention Center in Manila to attend the Training in Keno, the newest PCSO Game Format in town.

Our Training was ably handled by Ms. Cynthia Roldan of the PCSO Training Group.  With the aid of her Powerpoint presentation and actual operations of the Microlot terminal, can learn easily. (more about that below)

This is Mr. Tony Reyes, President of TGTI Keno (foto courtesy of TGTI)
Essentially, the Keno Microlot Terminal is also the same terminal used by the lotto outlets in the Visayas and Mindanao areas, south of Manila and is operated by the Total Gaming Technologies Inc. headed by Ms. Princess Chan, its Chairman and Mr. Tony Reyes as its President.

For those who do not know what the Keno is, image the Off-Track Betting Stations of the Horse Race but minus the horses.  hehehehe. . . .  There is a new draw every 10 minutes & betting starts from 7am to 12 midnight.

This is good for the impatient bettor and the guy who has to wait for somebody.

Keno is a good additional source of income for the Lotto Agent who is worried by the competition posed by other lotto outlets in its vicinity.

Lastly, for those afraid of attending the training, the training is easy to learn as the Trainor was very clear in her instructions & she allowed us to try the Keno Terminal as many times as we want.  (She distributed several Keno playslips for us to try.)

Hurrah!!!! My Keno Application Has Been Approved!!!!

Last Setember 25, 2012, I received a Letter in the mail from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office saying that last September 4, 2012, they have approved my application for a Keno Outlet.

For a lotto agent like me, it is another source of income for my humble small business.  Thank you, PCSO and to Total Gaming Technologies Inc., the local technology partner of the PCSO & owner of the Microlot Keno Terminal.

Just Because It's Lotto, Does Not Mean You Can Locate It Just Anywhere!!!

Location. . . Location . . .Location.  That seems to be always the mantra of the Marketing Experts.

In Lotto, the same holds true.  I will explain by narrating this incident:
Wrong Location?  (Photo courtesy of memeburn.com)

I was waiting for the G2 Headquarters of the AFP to open as I need a Gate Pass for my car to enter the Supply Warehouse Compound at Camp Aguinaldo to pick-up my supplies like PCSO lotto playslips and thermal papers.

1.  There was a young girl and an old man also in line and both from different lotto outlets.

2.  The girl commented to me that she can't hardly meet her Overhead with the low sales that she is getting.  She was complaining of the high costs of transportation to remit the PCSO ticket sales everyday to the bank, the once a week submission of the Settlement Report to the PICC where the PCSO is holding office and the once a month trip with the car to pickup her supplies at Camp Aguinaldo.  And this complaining is from an outlet that is but 4 months old!

3.   Upon hearing this, the old man also agreed that it is difficult to meet his Operating expenses.

4.  I wanted to tell them that just because it is a lotto outlet, you will not exercise the same care in selecting a good location just like any business.

5.  If you try to locate near an existing lotto outlet, chances are both of you will just cannibalize each other's sales.  You have to study if the area can support several lotto outlets.

If you avail of  my Lotto Consultation Service, I will explain the following to you:

1.  The differences between a Mall location and a Roadside Location;

2.  How to Negotiate with the Mall Leasing Department and what are the different charges being collected by Malls;

3.  I will  show you different possible examples of locations and I will share you my comments on what to watch out for in such locations and/or why that type of location is good.

4. I will also show you other ways to increase the total sales of your new business.

Floods Everywhere But Our Lotto Outlet Is Open

(P.S. This actually happened Aug 7, 2012 and not the Post date of 080612)

GMA News weatherman looks ridiculous saying EXPECT STRONG WINDS, STRONG RAINS AND LOTS OF FLOOD BUT ........ BUT THERE IS NO STORM!!!!! Geeezzzz!!!!

PCSO HEAD OFFICE is closed so I can't submit my weekly reports. PNB bank all branches are closed, so no remittance. All private and government offices are closed. Schools of course are closed too.

But, the Pcso Lotto draw will proceed!  And that's why our lotto outlet has to open too.

UPDATE:  We eventually stopped selling at around 3pm as the Mall Management declared that the Mall will close at 4pm.

Thankfully, it was not totally a Zero-sales day as some grocery buyers dropped by to place a bet.

Don't get wet.  Drink warm. Take care, my valued readers.
